Looking for some free and fun activities to do in NYC in August?
There are plenty to do!
One of my favorite things to do is visiting Governors Island. We just spent a day there with the kids riding our bicycles. The ferry ride cost $2 per person round trip, but if you are an early bird the rides are free for the first few ferries from Brooklyn, and Manhattan on the weekend.
NYC Summer Streets is another event that turns Lafayette Avenue from the Brooklyn Bridge to 14th Street and continues north on Park Avenue to 72nd Street into a pedestrian plaza for three Saturdays in August.
"Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. On three consecutive Saturdays in August, nearly seven miles of NYC's streets are opened for people to play, run, walk and bike."
